Mr. Earl F. Sikes, 78, of Millen, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at University Hospital in Augusta.
He was born in Burke County, a retired master sergeant in the U. S. Army having served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and he was a member of Green Fork Baptist Church.
Mr. Sikes was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Gibson Sikes and a daughter, Betty Wakefield.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday at the Green Fork Baptist Church with Revs. Jimmy Allen, Ray Freeman, and Gainus Sikes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors.
Survivors include his two daughters, Erika VanBuren and Patricia Bame of Millen; a brother, Gainus Sikes of Floral Park, NY; and five grandchildren all of Millen.
Active Pallbearers will be Mike Bame, Kenneth Bame, Bob Harper, Jimmy Hendley, Allen VanBuren, Scott Rogers, Gainus Sikes Jr., Donald Sikes, and Brian K. Sikes.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons of Green Fork Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home of Millen.
