Obituary

Dwayne R. (Dee) Newton, 48, passed away on October 31, 2019 in Jenkins County, Georgia.

Dee was born May 31, 1971 in Statesboro. Georgia. He was a graduate of Jenkins County High School.  Dee was a US Navy Veteran who proudly served his country on the USS England, a Leahy-class guided missile cruiser, during Operation Desert Storm patrolling the Persian Gulf.

Dee retired, after 21 years of service, from Burke County Emergency Management Agency, June 2019, as a Lieutenant. Firefighter and EMT I. During his lengthy career Dee was assigned, primarily, to Burke County EMA Station 4 (Midville), he was devoted to serving and supporting the residents of Midville and surrounding area in their most troubling times. After retirement Dee launched a new successful business venture, East Georgia Pressure Washing LLC.

Graveside services will be held in the Midville Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, with Rev.  Frankie B. May officiating. Visitation will be after the service at the cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his father; H. Ray Newton; grandparents, Thomas and Dorothy Barton, Franklin and Wilma Newton, J.W. and Eloise Wells.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Lane Newton; stepchildren Abbie Talley and Trent Hensley; parents John and Barbara Wells and Lottie Newton; sister, Donna Carswell and brother, David Newton, Special Cousin and Best Friend Chris Newton, Special Niece Jessika Kirkland, Close Friend, and confidant Chad Fordham, as well as several other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
