Dorothy "Dot"
Lucille Bennett Boone
Dec 8, 1940 — Nov 6, 2024
Millen
Dorothy Lucille Boone, 83, of Millen was called home to be with our Lord on November 6th, 2024, during a beautiful evening shower.
Born in Nunez, she was a member of Big Horse Creek Baptist Church, and a retired employee of Jockey International as a Quality Control expert with 36 years of loyal service.
Dot was deeply involved with her family. Over the years, she had many adventures with her significant other of 27 years, Robert Lunsford (Bob). Dot was well known for her witty sense of humor and could light up the darkest room with her beautiful smile. There was never a dull moment in the presence of Dorothy!
Dot enjoyed her many adventures with Mr. Bob through the years but always knew where home was at the old family farm. If you were to ask Dot her greatest accomplishment it wouldn't be her being the "bell of the ballroom" in her younger years or retiring after 3 decades of loyal service at Jockey, nor would it be all her successful expeditions with Bob; she would tell you her beautiful family. Dot would always brag on her wonderful children: Benjy, Melinda, and Teresa (Bird). Dot not only lived long enough to help love and mentor her grandchild but was blessed to welcome her great-grandchild into this world as well!
Dot was preceded in death by her parents, Napoleon and Lucille Bennett, and her husband of 34 years Joe Boone Sr., all of Millen.
Survivors include her significant other Bob Lunsford of Baton Rouge, LA; three children, Benjy Boone (Davanna) of Millen; Melinda Horne (Travis) of Soperton, GA; Teresea Harley of Millen; 7 grandchildren, Ben Boone (Katelyn), Dyllon Boone, Taylor Roberts, Daniel Boone, Courtney McLamb, Dustin McLamb (Crystal), Caitlyn Toole (Codie); 1 sister, Della Lovett of Dublin and 10 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be at Crowe-Fields funeral home Saturday November 9th from 6pm till 8pm.
Graveside services will be 3pm Sunday, November 10th at The Boone Family cemetery in Millen with Pastor Jeremy Lindsey of Connection Church Millen officiating.
