Mr. Dean M. Drake, age 82, died Sunday, May 14, 2017at his residence.

He was born in Jenkins County, a U. S. Army veteran, and a retired teacher from 1963 until 1993 at Swainsboro Tech and was the last surviving original instructor.

He was a Deacon of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home in Millen.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Rev. Butch Taylor and Dr. Ray Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Deep Creek Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Tyler Drake; 3 sons, Chris Drake (Pam), Darryl Drake (Donna), and Ashley Drake (Cindi); a daughter, Laura D. Hackworth all of Millen; a sister, Bonnie D. Wampler of Norcross; 6 grandchildren, Maggie Drake Forehand, Julie Drake Freeman, Jared Hackworth, Jamie Drake, Conley Drake, and Dawson Drake; and a great grandchild, Roseanna Freeman.
