Obituary

David Wendell Clark, 86, husband of the late Daisy Beard Clark, entered into his eternal rest Friday morning, May 31st, 2024 at Wellstar MCG Health in Augusta, GA.  The youngest of six children born to the late Benjamin Franklin and Irene Goethe Clark, David grew up in Jenkins County. He entered the workforce at an early age, with his first job at Hotel Estelle in Millen, followed by a few other fun jobs he enjoyed as a local radio disc jockey and a motorcycle police officer before he began his career with the Georgia Department of Agriculture retiring after 50 years. He was asked to come out of retirement, where he spent 10+ years working part time for the Food and Drug Administration. He enjoyed traveling across the state of Georgia for work and never met a stranger. He was a wonderful storyteller and loved reminiscing about the old days, remembering all the names with his memory that was always sharp as a tack.  He shared his love of horses and cows with his children and grandchildren, spending many days in the show cow ring and eventually having a horse farm where he loved training, riding and driving carts. He always had a pony for all the grandchildren to enjoy while they spent their summers and weekends at his house.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Daisy Beard Clark; Parents: Benjamin Franklin & Irene Goethe Clark; Brothers: W.C. Clark and Franklin Clark; Sisters: Erlene Jarrett, Eloise Mock, and Jean Brinson.
