Danny Ray Burke, age 56, was called home to be with our Lord on Saturday, March 21, 2020.

A resident of Jenkins County for much of his life, Danny was born on March 23, 1963, in Augusta, GA, the youngest son of Thomas S. "Tommy" Burke and Patricia Moore Pye. Danny was employed by Trane, Inc., in Vidalia, GA. He attended the Aaron Worship Center in Portal, GA, and had a deep, abiding faith in God.

Danny was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and enjoyed watching football games. He also enjoyed listening to country music and sharing his faith with others. Danny was always ready with a joke and loved to make people laugh.

Danny was well known as a master craftsman and artisan. With his incredible talent for carpentry, woodworking and building came naturally to him. He was a skilled painter and worked as a contractor for many years.

Memorial service will be held at a later date.

Danny was preceded in death by his father, Thomas S. "Tommy" Burke; his brother, Jerry Burke; and his sister, Diane Burke Clayton.

Survivors include his daughter, Jordan Smitherman (Mac) of Fort Bragg, NC; grandchildren, Savanna Brooke Smitherman and Malcolm D. "Trace" Smitherman III; mother, Patricia Pye (Jimmy) of Portal, GA; brothers, Michael Burke (Sherrie) of Midville, GA, and Tommy Burke of Portal, GA; and sisters, Susan Hall (Benny) of Millen, GA, and Crystal Bragg (Randy) of Ypsilanti, MI; and many nieces and nephews.
