Daniel Hinton Smith passed away on May 3, 2022 after an extended illness.

Daniel was born in Jenkins County on October 9, 1948 to Donald Hinton Smith and Dorothy Dixon Smith. After graduating from Jenkins County High School in 1966, he began his working career with his father in his brick masonry business. In 1973, thanks to Mr. J. D. Kent and Mr. Britt Aaron, Daniel began his 37 year career with the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. He was an avid woodworker and made beautiful pieces of furniture for his wife, daughter, and granddaughters. His favorite job during his life was being a PaPa to Emily and Ella Cate.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Dixon Smith, Donald Hinton Smith and Lorene Anderson Smith; brother, Donald Dixon Smith, Sr.

Visitation will be Friday at 2:00pm at Millen United Methodist Church with the funeral to follow at 3:00pm with Rev. John Drake officiating. Burial will follow in the Millen Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sherri Wilson Smith; son, Rhett Smith; daughter and son in law, Tori & Jeff Osteen; two granddaughters, Emily & Ella Cate Osteen; brothers, Terry Reynolds (JoAnne) and Curtis Reynolds; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Jody Bowers, Roy Cheney, James Carlton Cowart, Bill Gainey, Terry Garvin, Clark Hendley, Howdy McTeer, Pete Mills, John Cleve Newton and Ray Roberts.
