Clarence James "Jim" Waters, age 72, passed away on January 9, 2026, at East Georgia Medical Center in Statesboro, Georgia. Born on July 2, 1953, in Millen, Georgia, Jim lived a life rooted in family, community, and the simple joys that brought him happiness.

Jim was the beloved husband of Janie J. Waters. Together they shared 45 years of marriage. One of Jim's greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren, Jackson Melton, Noah Melton, Mikell Waters, and Mikayla Waters.

He was a devoted father to Summer (Gary) Melton and CJ (Ashley) Waters. He also held close the memory of his daughter Heather Waters Dyer, who preceded him in death. Jim's legacy continues through his children and grandchildren who carry forward his spirit and love.

Jim is also survived by his brother, Dave Waters, of Millen.

Jim found great fulfillment in retirement through his part-time work at Magnolia Springs State Park. The friendships he made there brought him joy and purpose. He especially enjoyed afternoon rides with his wife Janie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence (CJ) Judson Waters and Juel Brinson Waters; as well as his sisters Susan Waters Godbee and Dawn Waters Patterson.

Any memorial services to honor Jim's life will be announced by the family at a later date.
