Charles Edward Wilson, age 78, passed away at his home Saturday, March 21, 2026. He was born May 26, 1947 to Gordon and Lucille Wilson. He was a 1965 graduate of Jenkins County High School and earned a degree in recreation from Georgia Southern College.
Ed served the local agriculture community for over 50 years in many capacities. He was a chemical and fertilizer salesman for many years, but his main love was the land and his farm. He enjoyed seeing his crops grow and his John Deere tractor running in the fields.
He served on the Jenkins County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and previously served as chairman of the ASCS Committee and on the Jenkins County Hospital Board.
He was a member of Fair Haven Church where he served on various committees including chairman of the board and was lay leader for many years leading the congregation in songs.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Lucille Fleming Wilson.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jan Godbee Wilson; their two sons, Norman (Renee') Wilson and Stephen (Janet) Wilson, Sr. both of Millen; eight grandchildren, Justin (Brittany) Wilson and Zachary (Madison) Wilson, both of Millen, Stephen (Brittany) Wilson, Jr. of Statesboro, Allison (Travis) Donaldson of Metter, Caitlyn Wilson of Statesboro, Victoria (Wes) Smith and Matthew Blocker of Wadley and Taylor (Dominique) Blocker of Graniteville, SC; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 27, 2026 at Fair Haven Church, 1126 North Herndon Rd., Millen, Ga with the Reverend Jose Velasquez officiating. Interment will follow at Millen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Fleming, Johnny Fleming, Josh Fleming, Donnie Saxon, Wesley Godbee and Travis Donaldson. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Fleming and employees of Griffin Warehouse and Farm Bureau.
