Obituary

Catherine Louise Yager Amerson, age 97, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 21, 2024 at her home following an extended illness with Alzheimer's.

Catherine was born in Jenkins County to the late Dr. A. H. Yager and Esther Barton Yager.  She was a 1944 graduate of Jenkins County High School and retired from Thomson Company after 30 years as a seamstress to live out the rest of her years doing what she loved, taking care of her family and husband of 55 years, Rebun Amerson Sr. She also enjoyed working in her yards, fishing and attending West Millen Baptist Church where she was the oldest surviving member.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. A. H. Yager and Esther Barton Yager; her husband, Rebun Amerson Sr.; brothers, George Yager, Adam Yager and Edward Yager, all of Millen; sisters, Francis Herndon of Augusta, GA and Elizabeth (Beth) Bashlor of Savannah, GA.

She is survived by her sons, Durand (Buddy) Amerson, William (Billy) Lee Amerson Sr. (Bonnie), and Rebun (JR) Lee Amerson Jr. and daughter, Pamela Amerson Clarke (Kenny). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Millen Cemetery with the Reverend Perry Hearn officiating. Visitation will follow after the service.
