Obituary

Bonnie Salter of Perkins, GA passed away peacefully in her sleep January 31, 2026 after a long strong battle with cancer. She was born on June 1, 1959, in Portland, Oregon to Betty L. Kelley (McGregor) and Edwin Ira Kelley.

Bonnie traveled with her husband Wayne around the U.S. before settling down in Perkins, GA. She worked at Samson's Manufacturing as a seamstress and folder among many other things. After retirement, she spent her time with friends and family. She loved to crochet and sew. She enjoyed cooking and her favorite recipe was enchiladas, which everyone loved.

Bonnie loved spending time with her grandson, Thomas, playing games, going out and cooking together. She also shared some of her cooking secrets with him that she never told anyone else. Thomas says she was a great, loveable granny. Thomas loved her so much. She was the best and she will forever live on in his memories.

Bonnie was the youngest of four children. She is survived by two sisters, Victoria L. Hendricks and Virginia L. Clark; brother, Edwin Ira Kelley Jr.; daughter, Robin Rainey; son, Paul Salter; stepdaughter, Maria Salter; her grandson, Thomas Rainey, and son-in-law Christopher Rainey. She was predeceased by her husband and parents.

There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday, February 7, 2026. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:30 to 11:30 am at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Oak Hill Baptist Church at noon.
