Bobbie Allmond Reid of Millen, Georgia passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.   She was 85 years old.

Bobbie was born in Millen, Jenkins County Georgia on April 23, 1938.  After graduating from Jenkins County High School, she attended Georgia Southern where she earned her associate, bachelor's, master's, and six year degrees.  Until retirement, she was a classroom teacher and served as the Curriculum and Instruction Director for the Jenkins County School System.  She enjoyed working with the students, teachers, staff, and the community.  During her tenure as the Curriculum and Instruction Director, she was a member and active in several professional educational organizations.

Bobbie was a member of Millen Baptist Church and a member of the Anita Tinley Sunday School Class and served as president of the class for many years.   She married the love of her life, Col. Leonard D. Reid in 1987.  Before his death, they enjoyed traveling, entertaining, and spending time at Hilton Head Island.  One of Bobbie's happiest places was when she was working in her lovely gardens.  She enjoyed growing, arranging, and sharing her beautiful flowers.  She was an active member of the Azalea and later Millen Garden Club, Millen Garden Council, and East Georgia Flower Show Judges serving terms as President of each of these.  She also served on the Garden Club of Georgia Oleander District Board and the Garden Club of Georgia Board.  Bobbie was a National Garden Club Master Flower Show Judge and also a NGC Master Garden Consultant.  Members of the Millen Baptist Church were fortunate to have Bobbie serving for several years as chairman of the flower committee.  Most Saturdays she could be found placing a floral design created from flowers in her garden at the altar.  In addition, Bobbie created arrangements for the school system and other special events in the community and for others.

Not only did Bobbie enjoy creating beautiful arrangements and being involved with the garden club and serving as flower show judge, she loved playing Bridge.  For many years, she was a member of the Tuesday Afternoon Bridge Club.  In addition, she played tournament Duplicate Bridge.  In other words, she was a master Bridge player.

Bobbie is survived by her sister, Janette Keezell, her brother-in-law, Andy Kingery, and several nieces.  She is preceded in death by her husband Col. Leonard D. Reid, her mother Dorothy Allmond, her father, Reamer Allmond, brother Reamer Allmond, Jr. and sister Joanne Kingery.

She was blessed to have loving caregivers who loved and cared for her.  Heartfelt gratitude to Sheila Dunnum, Susan Myers, Jackie Dudley, and Tina Flakes for the love and care they provided.  In addition, close family friends including David and Allyson Askew, Buddy Pope, Jane Johnson, Joe and Lee Ann Collier, and Chad and Judy Holton were blessed to have been a part of her life.  The family and close friends would like to acknowledge Ogeechee Area Hospice Care for the excellent care they provided during her illness.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 7 at Millen Baptist Church at 3:00 PM.  Visitation will begin at 1:30 prior to the funeral services at Millen Baptist Church Social Hall. Rev. Brad Asbury will be officiating. Burial will be at the Millen Cemetery, Millen, Georgia.
