Mrs. Bobbie Joyce Atkinson, 90, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.

She was born in Jenkins County, was a retired hairdresser, and member of Garfield Methodist Church and attended New Beginnings in Christ Church.

Mama loved her family, her home, Garfield, her Walks to Emmaus, Pat and most of all Jesus.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Atkinson, son, Donald Atkinson, her parents Harvey and Annie Pope, brother, Donnie Pope, sister Judy Pope Yerty and Nancy Motes.

Visitation will be Friday, March 15, at New Beginnings in Christ Church from 10:00 am until funeral time at 11:00 am with Rev. Mike Ogden officiating. Burial will follow in Hebron Cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl A. Jean (Richard) of Hillsboro; son, Chris Atkinson of Garfield; brother, Ronnie Pope (Sherry) of Statesboro; grandchildren, Anna Brooke Atkinson Cowart (Casey), Robert Lee Jean (Rachel), Jake Atkinson, and John Richard Jean; great grandchildren are Aubrey Anna Cowart, Case Cowart and Riverly Jean; her sister-in-law, Evelyn Pope of Statesboro, and daughter-in-law, Joanna Atkinson of Garfield.

The family is eternally grateful for the love and care of her friend and caregiver, Pat Moneymaker.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to New Beginnings in Christ or His House, 113 Augusta Rd, Garfield, GA 30425.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Jeff Pope, Rob Sharpe, Scott Pope, Wes Pope, Mark Glover and Keith Glover.

Honorary Pallbearers are graduates of NBIC.
