Obituary

Bill "Swamp Rabbit" burke, 72, passed away on the afternoon of March 17, 2018 at Pruitt Health Bethany in Millen, Georgia. A gifted carpenter, farmer, woodsman and hunter; pill was most at ease walking in the wilderness he loved accompanied by his beloved canine companions, born in Jenkins County, he lived most of his life with his sister, Feddie Mae Mckinney, and brother-in-law, Claude "Hammer" McKinney. He is preceded in death by his parents, Castus Burke and Lizzie Rabitsch Burke; sisters, Addie Be11 Burke Clark, Nancy Lee Thompson, and Feddie Mae McKinney; nephew, Danny McKinney, and, niece, Inez McKinney. Though he spoke fondly of the time he worked for the state, he was proud to be known as one of the founding fathers of the Tampee Hunting Club. With this title and natural talent, he became a teacher and mentor to many members of this community, passing on his vast knowledge of fishing, hunting, and tracking to the next generation; thereby, creating a legacy that will live long after the Legend has rested.
