Mrs. Anne Wasden Clayton, of Millen, GA went to be with her Lord and Saviour on September 15, 2024.

Anne was born May 25, 1935 in Midville, Georgia, the daughter of Ray Wasden and Elizabeth Brinson Wasden.

Anne's dad died at an early age and her mother remarried and moved to Millen. She graduated from Jenkins County High School in 1953 and attended one year at GSCW.

Anne married her high school sweetheart Leroy Clayton in 1954. They lived in many places while he was in the Marine Corps then moved back to Millen.

She attended Georgia Southern 1 year after their two girls were older. She taught piano for 17 years, organist at Millen United Methodist Church for 2 years, Millen Baptist Church secretary for 16 years, Millen Baptist Church pianist for 46 years, and church organist for 5 years. Leroy and Anne sang for many funerals, weddings, and revivals in numerous churches in several counties.

Anne is survived by her husband of 70 years, Leroy Clayton, daughters Tamara (Roberto) Alicea of Augusta, Connie Baker of Millen, and son Roy Clayton of Millen; grandchildren Abigail Clayton, Walker Clayton, Justin Myers, Michael Youngblood; and 3 great-grandchildren, Kaylah Youngblood, Myleah Youngblood, Rikayah Youngblood.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Millen Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 18,2024 at Millen Baptist church with Rev. Brad Asbury officiating. Burial will follow at the Millen Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will be Robert Gunn, Ryan Burke, Wade Parker, Joe Sasser, Rex Hodges, and Jaye Lee.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Joyful Friends Sunday School Class.

Crowe-Fields Funeral Home of Millen was in charge of arrangements.
