Alton Evans Dailey, age 85, of Millen, Georgia went home to be with Jesus on June 28, 2025. He was at his residence under hospice care when he said his goodbyes. He was a devout Christian and loved Jesus.  He was born in Jenkins County to the late Roy Rexter Dailey and Louisiana Powell Dailey on July 25, 1939.  He worked hard and retired after 39 years as a sewing machine mechanic. He kept many coworker's sewing machines running at Thomson Co. During this time and after he retired, he enjoyed raising cattle, hogs, and goats on his farm. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting on and around the Ogeechee River. He enjoyed the fresh caught redbreast fried up with some hushpuppies.

Mr. Alton was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Alton Evans Dailey, Jr.; sister, Juanita Dailey Dasher; brother, Deroy Dailey.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shirley James Dailey; sisters, Linda Gale Mincey of Twin City, Frankie Sapp (Richard) of Waynesboro, and Betty Carol Gay (Dobson) of Garfield; a brother, Bobby R. Dailey of Millen;  a daughter, Teresa Ann Dailey Smith (Thomas); a step- son, Frank (Bubba) Gregory Jr. (wife Jo); a step-daughter, Angela Gregory; grandchildren,  Ernie Smith (Jillian),  Philip Smith, Jonathan Tanner Dailey; great grandsons, River Alan Smith and James Collins Smith and step- grandchild, Anthony Oglesby.

Funeral services will be held on July 2, 2025 at Millen Baptist Church with visitation at the church sanctuary from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. The service will start at 11:00 AM with Minister Cam Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow at Millen Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dobbie Gay III, Ernie Smith, Philip Smith, Casey Myers, Jeff Brantley and Anthony Oglesby.
