Alice Clayton Peel Messex age 95, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Brentwood Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on June 27, 1920 to the late J. Kessler and Bessie Parker Clayton. She lived a long, full life, socializing and cooking, especially her turkey and dressing, for her family and church gatherings. She retired from Thomson Company, Millen, GA and was active in Green Fork Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. She is the last survivor of twelve children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aldred Peel and her husband, Thomas D. Messex, granddaughter, Nicole Peel, brothers; Jesse, Carl, Monnie, and Arthur (who died in infancy) Clayton; sisters, Orrie Rhodes-Lucus, Ruby Rackley, Mazie Lee, Miriam Taylor, Annie Laurie Bragg-Burke, Alma Durden, and Martha Clayton (who died in infancy).

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, June 20, 2016 at Green Fork Baptist Church with visitation for one hour prior to the service.

Active pallbearers will be Chris Mallard, Jeff Davidson, Al Peel, Austin Peel, Tyler Brown, and Leslie Collins.

She is survived by her children, Lanny Peel of Wappapello, Missouri, Letty Mallard of Girard, Georgia, and Lavon (Sabrina) Peel of Fayette, Maine; grandchildren, Carla Brown, Al (Donna) Peel, Justin Peel, Chris (Mindi) Mallard, Susan (Jeff) Davidson, Kirsten (Patrick) McGowan, Chris (Heather) Peel, and Glen (Stephanie) Peel, twenty great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the employees in the unit at Brentwood Health and Rehabilitation, Waynesboro Georgia and St. Joseph Hospice for the loving care and compassion that was shown to her.
